اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ سَيِّدِ الْعَابِدِينَ‏
الَّذِي اسْتَخْلَصْتَهُ لِنَفْسِكَ وَ جَعَلْتَ مِنْهُ أَئِمَّةَ الْهُدَى الَّذِينَ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَ بِهِ يَعْدِلُونَ‏
اخْتَرْتَهُ لِنَفْسِكَ وَ طَهَّرْتَهُ مِنَ الرِّجْسِ وَ اصْطَفَيْتَهُ وَ جَعَلْتَهُ هَادِياً مَهْدِيّاً
اللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ أَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّةِ أَنْبِيَائِكَ‏
حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ بِهِ مَا تَقَرُّ بِهِ عَيْنُهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ إِنَّكَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيم

Translation

O Allah send blessings on Ali bin Husayn, the lord among (Thy) adorers,
 whom Thou selected for Thy pure friendship, and, in his lineage, appointed his offsprings as the true guides (Imams) who truthfully guided the mankind, and for that purpose repeated them, one after another,
 as Thy own preferred choice. Thou kept off uncleanness far from him, elected him in preference over others, and appointed him as the rightly guided guide.
 O Allah send blessings on him, much and more blessings than Thou had bestowed upon any of the descendants of the Prophets,
 till Thy blessings enthral him with joy and delight, in this world and in the hereafter. Verily Thou art Almighty, All-Wise.  

Transliteration

ALLAAHUMMA S’ALLI A’LAA A’LIYYIBNIL H’USAYN SAYYIDIL
A’ABIDEENALLAD’IS-TAKHLAS’TAHU LINAFSIKA WA JA-A’LTA MINHU
A-IMMATAL HUDALLAD’EENA YAHDOONA BIL H’AQQ WA BIHI YAA’-
DILOONAKH-TARTAHU LINAFSIKA WA TAHHARTAHU MINAR RIJS
WAS’T’AFAYTAHU WA JA-A’LTAHU HAADIYAN MAHDIYYA  ..
ALLAAHUMMA FAS’ALLI A’LAYHI AFZ”ALA MAA S’ALLAYTA A’LAA
AH’ADIN MIN D’URRIYYATI AMBIYAAA-IKA H’ATTAA TABLUGHA BIHI
MAA TAQARRU BIHI A’YNUHU FID DUNYAA WAL AAKHIRAH INNAKA

Merits of SALAWAT

Merits of SALAWAT

1. The Prophet (S.A.W.) said: 

“The meanest person is he who does not invoke SALAWAAT upon me when my name is mentioned in his presence”.
(Kanzul Ummal Vol 1 p 489)

2. Abu Amamah reports that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said:

“ Invoke more SALAWAAT upon me on every Friday, the SALAWAAT from my ummah is presented to me on every Friday. Whoever had invoked more SALAWAAT upon me will be closest to me”. 

(Kanzul Ummal Vol 1 p 488)

3. Anas reported that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said:

“O people, the most secured among you on the Day of Judgment against its horrors and menacing situations will be those who invoked SALAWAAT most upon me in this world. In fact, it was sufficient from Allah and his Angles, as He said: “Allah and his Angles send blessings on the prophet” (33:56), but He also commanded the believers to do so, so that they may be rewarded.

‎4. Ibn Asakri has transmitted from al-Hasan bin Ali that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Invoke more SALAWAAT upon me, for your invocation is conducive to your sins being forgiven. And pray for me a high status and intercession, for surely my intercession will plead in your favour before Allah”.
(Kanzul Ummal Vol 1 p 489)

‎5. The Prophet (S.A.W.) said:

“Say: “O Allah, send Your grace upon Muhammed and upon Muhammed’s progeny, the same way as You sent Your grace to Ibrahim, and bless Muhammed and Muhammed’s progeny the same way as You blessed Ibrahim among the nations. You are indeed worthy of all praise. Full of all glory ! And greet (me) as you have been taught.
(Kanzul Ummal Vol 1 p 496)

‎6. Abu Saeed says he said to the Prophet (S.A.W.) :

“O Messenger of Allah, this greeting is (to say) peace be upon you, but how do we invoke SALAWAAT upon you? “ He said: “Say O Allah, send your grace to Muhammed, your slave and your messenger the same way as you sent your grace to Ibrahim, and bless Muhammed and Muhammed’s progeny as you blessed Ibrahim and Ibrahim’s progeny.

‎7. Reported by Abdul Rehman bin Abu Layle who said that Ka’b bin Ujaira once met me and said: “May I bestow a gift upon you?”
The Prophet (S.A.W.) came to us and we said: “O Messenger of Allah! We know how to greet you, but how do we invoke SALAWAAT upon you?”
He said: “ Say O Allah! Send your grace to Muhammed and Muhammed’s progeny just as you sent Your grace to the progeny of Ibrahim. Surely You are worthy of all praise, full of glory”.

‎8. Ali bin Ibrahim reported from his fathers who reported from Ibn Abu Umayr who reported from Abdulla bin Sinan who reported from Imam adiq (A.S.) that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “ Invoking SALALWAAT upon me and my Ahlul Bayt carries away hypocrisy”.

‎9. A number of our colleagues have reported from Sahl bin Ziyad who reported from Jaffer bin Muhammed al Ash’ari, who reported from Ibn at – Qaddah who reported from Abu Abdillah (al Sadiq) A.S. that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Do not treat me like a rider’s bowl of water; the rider fills it and then drink’s from it when he pleases. Keep me at the opening of you supplication, and at the end of it, and (also) at the middle”.

‎10. Ibn Abu Umair reports from Abdulla bin Sinan who reports from Abu Abdillah (al Sadiq) A.S. that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Raise your voices when you invoke SALAWAAT upon me, for it surely carries away hypocrisy”.

(Al – Kafi Vol 4 p 251)

11. The Prophet said: “Do not invoke incomplete SALAWAAT upon me”.
They said: “What is incomplete SALAWAAT?
He said: “When you say: O Allah! Send Your grace to Muhammed and then stop at that. Rather say: O Allah! Send Your grace to Muhammed and Muhammed’s progeny”.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ صَلِّ عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ الْمَظْلُومِ الشَّهِيدِ
قَتِيلِ الْعَبَرَاتِ وَ أَسِيرِ الْكُرُبَاتِ صَلاَةً نَامِيَةً زَاكِيَةً مُبَارَكَةً يَصْعَدُ أَوَّلُهَا وَ لاَ يَنْفَدُ آخِرُهَا
أَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَوْلاَدِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ‏
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى الْإِمَامِ الشَّهِيدِ الْمَقْتُولِ الْمَظْلُومِ الْمَخْذُولِ‏
وَ السَّيِّدِ الْقَائِدِ وَ الْعَابِدِ الزَّاهِدِ الْوَصِيِّ الْخَلِيفَةِ الْإِمَامِ الصِّدِّيقِ الطُّهْرِ الطَّاهِرِ
الطَّيِّبِ الْمُبَارَكِ وَ الرَّضِيِّ الْمَرْضِيِّ وَ التَّقِيِّ الْهَادِي الْمَهْدِيِّ الزَّاهِدِ الذَّائِدِ الْمُجَاهِدِ الْعَالِمِ‏
إِمَامِ الْهُدَى سِبْطِ الرَّسُولِ وَ قُرَّةِ عَيْنِ الْبَتُولِ صلى الله عليه و آله و سلم‏
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِي وَ مَوْلاَيَ كَمَا عَمِلَ بِطَاعَتِكَ وَ نَهَى عَنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ‏
وَ بَالَغَ فِي رِضْوَانِكَ وَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى إِيمَانِكَ غَيْرَ قَابِلٍ فِيكَ عُذْراً سِرّاً وَ عَلاَنِيَةً
يَدْعُو الْعِبَادَ إِلَيْكَ وَ يَدُلُّهُمْ عَلَيْكَ وَ قَامَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ يَهْدِمُ الْجَوْرَ بِالصَّوَابِ وَ يُحْيِي السُّنَّةَ بِالْكِتَابِ‏
فَعَاشَ فِي رِضْوَانِكَ مَكْدُوداً وَ مَضَى عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ وَ فِي أَوْلِيَائِكَ مَكْدُوحاً وَ قَضَى إِلَيْكَ مَفْقُوداً
لَمْ يَعْصِكَ فِي لَيْلٍ وَ لاَ نَهَارٍ بَلْ جَاهَدَ فِيكَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ وَ الْكُفَّارَ
اللَّهُمَّ فَاجْزِهِ خَيْرَ جَزَاءِ الصَّادِقِينَ الْأَبْرَارِ وَ ضَاعِفْ عَلَيْهِمُ الْعَذَابَ وَ لِقَاتِلِيهِ الْعِقَابَ‏
فَقَدْ قَاتَلَ كَرِيماً وَ قُتِلَ مَظْلُوماً وَ مَضَى مَرْحُوماً
يَقُولُ أَنَا ابْنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ ابْنُ مَنْ زَكَّى وَ عَبَدَ فَقَتَلُوهُ بِالْعَمْدِ الْمُعْتَمَدِ
قَتَلُوهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ وَ أَطَاعُوا فِي قَتْلِهِ الشَّيْطَانَ وَ لَمْ يُرَاقِبُوا فِيهِ الرَّحْمَنَ‏
اللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِي وَ مَوْلاَيَ صَلاَةً تَرْفَعُ بِهَا ذِكْرَهُ وَ تُظْهِرُ بِهَا أَمْرَهُ وَ تُعَجِّلُ بِهَا نَصْرَهُ‏
وَ اخْصُصْهُ بِأَفْضَلِ قِسَمِ الْفَضَائِلِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ زِدْهُ شَرَفاً فِي أَعْلَى عِلِّيِّينَ‏
وَ بَلِّغْهُ أَعْلَى شَرَفِ الْمُكَرَّمِينَ وَ ارْفَعْهُ مِنْ شَرَفِ رَحْمَتِكَ فِي شَرَفِ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ فِي الرَّفِيعِ الْأَعْلَى‏
وَ بَلِّغْهُ الْوَسِيلَةَ وَ الْمَنْزِلَةَ الْجَلِيلَةَ وَ الْفَضْلَ وَ الْفَضِيلَةَ وَ الْكَرَامَةَ الْجَزِيلَةَ
اللَّهُمَّ فَاجْزِهِ عَنَّا أَفْضَلَ مَا جَازَيْتَ إِمَاماً عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ وَ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِي وَ مَوْلاَيَ كُلَّمَا ذُكِرَ وَ كُلَّمَا لَمْ يُذْكَرْ
يَا سَيِّدِي وَ مَوْلاَيَ أَدْخِلْنِي فِي حِزْبِكَ وَ زُمْرَتِكَ وَ اسْتَوْهِبْنِي مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَ رَبِّي‏
فَإِنَّ لَكَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ جَاهاً وَ قَدْراً وَ مَنْزِلَةً رَفِيعَةً إِنْ سَأَلْتَ أُعْطِيتَ وَ إِنْ شَفَعْتَ شُفِّعْتَ‏
اللَّهَ اللَّهَ فِي عَبْدِكَ وَ مَوْلاَكَ لاَ تُخَلِّنِي عِنْدَ الشَّدَائِدِ وَ الْأَهْوَالِ لِسُوءِ عَمَلِي وَ قَبِيحِ فِعْلِي وَ عَظِيمِ جُرْمِي‏
فَإِنَّكَ أَمَلِي وَ رَجَائِي وَ ثِقَتِي وَ مُعْتَمَدِي وَ وَسِيلَتِي إِلَى اللَّهِ رَبِّي وَ رَبِّكَ‏
لَمْ يَتَوَسَّلِ الْمُتَوَسِّلُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ بِوَسِيلَةٍ هِيَ أَعْظَمُ حَقّاً وَ لاَ أَوْجَبُ حُرْمَةً
وَ لاَ أَجَلُّ قَدْراً عِنْدَهُ مِنْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ‏
لاَ خَلَّفَنِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْكُمْ بِذُنُوبِي وَ جَمَعَنِي وَ إِيَّاكُمْ فِي جَنَّةِ عَدْنٍ الَّتِي أَعَدَّهَا لَكُمْ وَ لِأَوْلِيَائِكُمْ‏
إِنَّهُ خَيْرُ الْغَافِرِينَ وَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ‏
اللَّهُمَّ أَبْلِغْ سَيِّدِي وَ مَوْلاَيَ تَحِيَّةً كَثِيرَةً وَ سَلاَماً وَ ارْدُدْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْهُ السَّلاَمَ‏
إِنَّكَ جَوَادٌ كَرِيمٌ وَ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ كُلَّمَا ذُكِرَ السَّلاَمُ وَ كُلَّمَا لَمْ يُذْكَرْ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِين

TRANSLATION

O Allah send blessings on Husayn, Thy bondman,
Thy friend, the son of Thy Messenger,
the offspring of “Mercy”, the prime leader of the people of the Paradise,
much and more blessings than Thou had bestowed upon any descendant of the
Prophets and Messengers.
O Allah send blessings on Husayn bin Ali, the much tormented martyr,
who was killed by the infidels, and left unburied by the profligates!

O Aba Abdillah!
Peace be on you,
O the son of the Messenger of Allah!
Peace be on you ,
O the son of the Ameer ul Moomineen!
I know for certain and testify that you are a faithful confidant of Allah, exactly like
your father, you had been wrongfully killed and left this world as a martyr. I bear
witness that , verily, Allah is your blood-claimer, and fulfiller of the promise He
made with you to help and assist for the total annihilation of your enemies, and
make your claim stand out and prevail…
I bear witness that you had kept your promise with Allah, fought in the way of
Allah, and sincerely served Allah, till the inevitable came unto you, Curse of Allah
be on the people who killed you, curse of Allah be on the people who deserted and
left you helpless, curse of Allah be on the people who incited others to oppose you. I
turn to Allah by disconnecting all links with those who refused to accept you, paid ..
no attention to your claim, and deemed your blood-shedding lawful, My father and
mother are at your disposal, O Aba Abdillah! Curse of Allah be on your killers,
curse of Allah be on those who ran away from you , curse of Allah be on those who
heard your call yet did not give answer, nor came to help you, curse of Allah be on
those who held your womenfolk as captive ..
I turn to Allah by disconnecting all links with them and those who befriended them ,
cooperated with them, helped them. I bear witness that, verily, you and the Imams,
in your progeny are the essence of piety, gateway to guidance, the safe handle ..
(Islam), and the clear proof of truth for the mankind. I vouch for my believe in you,
I am sure of your rank and stature, I am your follower, in letter and spirit, in the
matter of my religious performance, day-to-day conduct, and “returning to the
Creator”, while I live in this world and make preparation for the Hereafter….
